What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign® is a new form of orthodontics. Instead of wires attached to your teeth, your teeth can be straightened invisibly.

Common Problems that Invisalign Addresses

• Crowding:When teeth are too tight together they can become crooked and cause discomfort, difficulty cleaning and lead to other dental problems.
• Spacing: Gaps between teeth are generally undesirable cosmetically, but are also a dental concern for increasing the chance of tooth decay.
• Crossbite:When lower and upper teeth are not aligned properly it can cause difficulty chewing and lead to jaw and other dental problems.

The Invisalign® Process

• At your first visit a treatment plan will be mapped out with your goals in mind. Then, impressions and pictures of your teeth will be digitized in order to work with a computerized 3-D image of your teeth
• Then, Dr. Jeremy Kurtz will plan your tooth movements throughout your entire treatment timeline. You’ll be able to see a virtual representation of your teeth before, during, and after completion of the Invisalign process so you can see what your smile should look like when you’re done with treatment.
• From the doctor’s precise treatment plan, customized aligners are created with technology by the Invisalign® company, for you to wear at each stage of your treatment, (a full set of treatment typically includes 20-30 aligners per arch).
• Each set of aligners are worn for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
• As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week – until they have straightened to the final position the dentist has prescribed.
• You will visit Dr. Jeremy Kurtz approximately once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.
• Total treatment time averages 11 months with the average number of aligners worn during treatment between 18 and 30. This of course will vary from case to case.
